I am Thankful for…
As we prepare to think about Thanksgiving, which is right around the corner, I place signs that say, “I am Thankful for….” on the doors to each of our dance studios along with a pad of sticky notes. The students and families have a chance to take a sticky note and complete the phrase sharing what they are thankful for with others. They can leave the note on the door or take the note with them to post in their home, in their car or anyplace they would like to share it publicly or just keep it private. Thanksgiving it is the perfect time to reflect on what we are Thankful for each day. In past years, children have shared they are thankful for their mom who makes their favorite cookies for them or their dad who took them for pizza. A student shared she was thankful for her dance teacher who taught her to dance.
Take time during this holiday season to think about all that we are thankful for each and every day.
Sometimes the smallest of things are overlooked and we are waiting for the “big thing” to be thankful for and appreciate. We want more. As parents we serve as role models for our young children. They mimic our behaviors. What do we want to see in our children? We have a wonderful opportunity to help children develop an attitude of gratitude.
Take time each day to focus on someone you appreciate or something you are thankful for, big or small and share it with your children. Ask them to do the same. Maybe put a pad of sticky notes on your kitchen table and write it down and then place the notes on the walls to share.
Try if for the next 21 days and see the impact it can have on your life and those around you.
Best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving from Cynthia’s School of Dance & Music. We are thankful for all of our customers past and present who have allowed us to share the joy of music and dance with them.
